As an individual or member of a family / whānau who has been affected by cancer, we would like to extend you a warm invitation to attend the Relay For Life 2019 and be a part of our Opening Ceremony walk and Candlelight Ceremony.
Relay For Life is an inspiring community event that gives everyone a chance to Celebrate cancer survivors and carers; Remember loved ones lost to cancer; and Fight Back by raising awareness and funds to support the work of Cancer Society. Relay For Life is for people of all ages and fitness levels - anyone can take part!
Relay For Life involves teams of people who walk or run around a track relay style. Each team needs to have at least one participant on the track throughout the event. This year, for the first time ever, Relay for Life is coming to Queenstown and Wanaka.
Two of the most poignant moments of this event are the Opening Ceremony and the
We would like to extend a personal invitation to you and your family/whānau
to join us at Relay For Life 2019 to take part in these special events.
The Opening Ceremony includes an opening lap where we take time to acknowledge, support and Celebrate individuals and their wider family/whānau currently facing a cancer diagnosis, those living beyond cancer treatments and those who have walked alongside someone with a cancer diagnosis who is no longer with us.
The Opening Ceremony starts at 12.00 pm and lasts for approximately 30 minutes.
Light refreshments will be provided in the Cancer Society Tent following the Opening Ceremony walk. If you would like to join us, we would ask that you come to the Cancer Society Tent from 11:30 am, where our support staff will greet and provide you with a sash before taking you to the Ceremony starting point.
The Candlelight Ceremony takes time out in our day to Celebrate, Remember and Fight Back.
We take the time to Celebrate living with and beyond cancer, we then take time to reflect and Remember those who are no longer with us, and then take the time to make a commitment to each other to Fight Back in ways that are important to you as an individual. If you feel this is something you would also like to be a part of, we warmly invite you to join us in this uplifting event.
The Candlelight Ceremony starts at 9:00 pm in front of the stage and lasts for approximately 30 minutes.
You are welcome to join in with the Relay For Life and participate for as long as you may wish. It is a vibrant event, with much laughter and fun, where people from all walks of life come together from our amazing community in support of the Cancer Society and those affected by cancer.
