COVID-19 is, sadly, particularly relevant to us here at the Cancer Society as we support vulnerable cancer patients.
We remain completely committed to being there for everyone affected by cancer at this time. We are working hard to maintain contact with our 700 active patients to deliver a range of targeted and relevant psychosocial supports.
The adaptation, creation and ongoing provision of our services in response to COVID-19 is testament to our team across the region – and I want to acknowledge all our staff members for their hard work at this time.
It’s also been a time when we have seen the best from our community, with individuals and businesses stepping up to provide accommodation, transport and daily items like groceries to our patients. It’s times like this when kindness, compassion and looking out for each other are vital.
We’ve had to make some hard decisions over the past couple of months, including postponing our Relay for Life events. Thank you to all of you who have been in a position to support us financially during this time.
Finally, for those of you who we see regularly in our offices or groups as volunteers, bakers, drivers, or other supporters, please know that we are missing you and look forward to seeing you soon.
